Perfection Paralysis: What would you rather?

While leading a teleclass recently I was reminded about the one evil thing that gets us entrepreneurs from time to time.  That is PERFECTION! blah!

Perfection really gets in our way.  It stops us from:

  • crossing projects off our to do list
  • attracting new clients
  • moving our business forward
  • attaining our goals
  • sleeping
  • reducing stress
  • making money

Perfection has an evil sound too.  It sounds like:

  • I’m not ready yet
  • I still have to add ___
  • I have to modify this and that
  • The font should be a different font…hmmmm which font should I use?
  • I don’t like my background colours
  • Can we move the graphic to the left instead of the right?
  • My sales page isn’t perfect yet
  • I want to change one more thing
  • I want to add more to my sales page
  • I want to add another picture
  • I want to add another bonus
  • I want to wait until Monday to send out my promotional email
  • I think I should move my product to a different website address

Perfection makes us drag our feet and it drags down others along with us.  Imagine how this perfection is driving your husband/wife/partner crazy!  The more you try to “perfect” things the more expensive it is for you…every change you make your VA charges you for it and every change you make costs you some sales too!

If you are trying to perfect things, does it make you appear to be unconfident in your offer?

Doesn’t it just stress you out to be perfect too?  When you aim to be perfect the job will never be done will it?  It will never be perfect! That’s exhausting.

Do your clients really know that something is not “perfect” either?  It’s only imperfect in your mind.

I don’t know about you but I’d rather be imperfect, have less stress and have more money in my pocket.  Wouldn’t you?

Are you a recovering from Perfection Paralysis?  Tell us your story by posting a comment below.
