If you can’t get enough of social networking and social media, you will love this hot new game! It’s the world’s first social reality game! Although it’s still in Beta and only testers can play at this point, it has incredible potential to change the world.
How it works:
- Each Akoha card has a mission written on it such as “invite someone to coffee”, “donate an hour of your
time”, “give someone your favourite book” etc. All missions to Play it Forward!
- When you take action on one of the cards, you must then give a person that card.
- That person then goes to www.akoha.com and registers their card. This enables Akoha to track the travels of the card (where it’s been and how many people have used this card) and it gives you the opportunity to see how the card got to you through a map! By registering you also earn Karma points.
- While on www.akoha.com you can then choose other missions to play with friends, strangers etc. Once you complete a certain number of missions you can create your own missions for others to play!
- You may also purchase your own deck of Akoha cards!
I’m truly impressed by this game! Not only does it use technology to better the world but it challenges us to “pay it forward” by “playing it forward”. It’s no wonder it was selected as one of Canada’s 20 Hottest Innovative Companies.
If you cannot wait to play the game when it’s ready to go, why not join their list of Beta testers? You can
register at: www.akoha.com/betalist

After writing 2 chapters of my book, I really felt like I was struggling to write it. When I write my blog posts or newsletter articles they just seem to flow. Luckily my fingers can keep up with my brain and I can type something like 70 words per minute. When I sent my 2 chapters to my Coach, she also could see it just wasn’t the right fit. It was a relief actually. I have switched the topic of my book and I’m even more excited to write this new book. The first 2 chapters have been written and there are a few more to go…well more than just a few! I am super excited.
Part of my homework was to go to a bookstore and take a look at some books. The purpose of this task is to get some inspiration, motivation and some ideas for book covers and book titles. Saturday morning I walked to the book store with my coffee in hand. It was a beautiful winter morning in Toronto which made my 30 minute walk very fun! I spent about an hour in the store in the business and the computer sections. I found a few hilarious book titles. I immediately took those books off the shelf and read them, just because I knew they’d be a fun read (this was in the business section, most computer book are borrrrrrrrring!) For every 1 interesting title there were about 45 boring titles. They were simple yet boring, unimaginative and generic. blah. The one book that really caught
my eye was a book called “How to create kick ass ideas”. They could have called it “Thinking Creatively” or “How to create ideas”. Instead they chose a funny title and probably raised a few eyebrows!
Sunday I began writing for the new book idea. I played a game to get myself to type like mad. The game was to pretend that the book
was due that evening. So I wrote and wrote and I said “no” to as much non-book-writing things as possible. I still only got 2 chapters written but I will play that game again this weekend. Wouldn’t it be cool to write a book in just 3 days?

Whenever I spend a week working on products my inbox will be filled with over 100 e-mails from clients and another 200 or so that are newsletters or from discussion groups. A similar thing happens on Monday’s but on a smaller scale. My goal is to keep my inbox down to less than 20 emails at the end of the day. Those 20 emails are usually tasks that I must complete or reminders to do something else.
Last week I found myself wrestling with an average of 85 e-mails from clients all week long! In order to plow through them and get my inbox back to a manageable size I challenged myself to a game. The game was “How many emails can I reply to/complete in the next 15 minutes?”. After 15 minutes I calculated how many e-mails I completed and started the game again. Soon enough I was down to 30 emails in my inbox. I find that this game really helps me manage my time or else I could really spend 12 hours a day working on my e-mail alone! Of course you can’t plow through all of your e-mails like this. A number of them will need more care and attention, but there are some e-mails in your inbox that only require a one sentence reply.
How many e-mails can you complete in 15 minutes? Let me know by adding a comment below.
